BHD Storage Solutions has been a key player in the cantilever racking industry since 1999, evolving its offerings to meet the changing demands of warehouse distribution, particularly with the rise of automation.
The company provides flexible and innovative racking systems that seamlessly integrate with automation solutions, catering to a wide range of integrators’ needs.
Specialising in cantilever racking, BHD has established a strong presence in the Australian market.
“Cantilever racking has always been our specialty,” says John Harrison, General Manager.
“This focus has kept BHD ahead of market dynamics, especially as demand for pallet racking and warehouse automation increases. The introduction of various styles of pallet racking combined with automation has driven BHD’s expansion into new market segments.”
Efficiency and control over the supply chain are critical to BHD’s operations.
“We are the manufacturer,” says David Searle, Queensland State Manager. With over 100,000 square metres of manufacturing plants, BHD controls the entire supply chain, from design to manufacturing and shipping, ensuring consistent product quality and order updates. Their facilities are ISO 9000 certified, guaranteeing quality across all operations.
BHD’s designs maximise space and efficiency for clients, particularly in the steel and timber industries.
“Our cantilever systems have evolved significantly,” adds John.
“We now go up to nine metres high, with narrow aisles to maximise floor space, allowing quick retrieval of specific items without moving others. This efficiency is crucial for industries where space and time are critical.”
BHD handles large-scale projects, such as serving Komatsu. “Komatsu’s equipment varies greatly in size and weight,” says David.
BHD designed multipurpose racking to handle everything from four-ton motors to smaller components, implementing mobile racks that reduced floor space requirements and improved retrieval times. These mobile racks handle up to 16 tons per bay, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval.
Continuous improvement and adaptability are central to BHD’s ethos. “We’ve increased steel thicknesses and grades to handle higher loads,” says John.
“All our racking complies with the highest certification standards, ensuring safety and reliability.” The company’s modular design allows for flexibility and adaptability to clients’ specific storage needs.
BHD is investing in research and development, particularly in warehouse automation. “We’ve built a new factory in China with a large R&D centre dedicated to automation racking,” says David. This investment aims to future-proof the business and keep pace with industry trends.
BHD remains a a key player in the racking industry, focusing on cantilever and pallet racking solutions tailored for automation. Its manufacturing capabilities, commitment to quality, and customer-centric approach enable it to meet the diverse needs of clients across various industries. As BHD continues to invest in R&D and adapt to the evolving landscape of warehouse automation, it is poised to remain a key industry player.
